Samsung to hold its own developers conference

Samsung has announced plans for a developers conference.

The event will take place between October 27th and 29th in San Francisco.
It is the first Android phone maker to hold its own developers conference. Up until now, Google’s I/O conference has been the focal point for all Android developers.
Samsung has said that its own developers conference will give industry professionals the chance to “engage with industry leaders, collaborate with fellow developers and learn about new Samsung tools and SDKs”.
The company said that registration will open soon. The price of attending is currently not known.
Samsung is currently the top smartphone maker in the world.
Both Google and Apple’s own developers conferences have evolved to become more than just an opportunity to connect with developers.
Both companies now regularly make product announcements at their conference’s keynotes. It is unclear if Samsung plans to do the same.
Samsung has refused to comment on whether the conference would focus solely on Android, or whether it would also cover its own operating system Tizen.
The company has hinted in the past that it could drop Android in favour of Tizen.
The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4 was curiously devoid of any mentions of Android.
Google and Samsung later made a statement that the companies had no plans to stop working together.
That has not stopped speculation that Samsung is at least considering dumping Android sometime in the near future.
Samsung has confirmed however, that the event will note focus exclusively on mobile phones. It is likely that it will also use the event to speak about its Smart TV division and its rumoured smart watch.
